Sub class M2c

Sub class M2c includes Loco Nos. 626, 627. Main class M2 is the most successful loco in Sri Lanka. Normally called as “Canadian” engine. But there are two classes of Canadian engines in SLR. The other one is Class M4. Sub class M2c is only used in upcountry line and called as “Upcountry Kings” also. They usually haul popular passenger trains “Udarata Menike” and “Podi Menike” and “Night Mail“. This sub class specially designed for upcountry line specially the axle arrangement Bo-Bo gives more axle load preventing wheel slipping. Long hood front side gives additional protection to drivers when driving in upcountry line. This M2 sub class has Dynamic breaks which are essential in hill country.
