Class M10

DLW (Varanasi, India) Imported to Sri Lanka under Indian funds, in 2012. Three (3) locomotives imported in the first phase and another six (6) was imported in 2013 as the second batch, classified as Class M10a. Caused few failures in trial runs. Still now mainly used for freight trains. Slowly adopting to passenger service. M10 is similar in appearance to DLW WMD3 but specifications are different. Now M10 is the longest and heaviest locomotive in service in SLR.
